National Pingtung University (NPTU) – Taiwan introduces to international students 04 PhD and Master training programs:
A. TRAINING PROGRAM:
1. International PhD Program of Applied Science of College of Science (IPPAS)
IPPAS is designed to cultivate outstanding researchers and professionals. Research areas include:
- Quantum Technology, Electro-optics Thin Films and Nano Materials
- Biocompatible Materials, Structural Chemistry and Green Chemistry
- Science Communication and Education
- Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Analysis
2. International Master Program of Applied Science of College of Science (IMPAS)
IMPAS’s research focuses include the measurements of optical-electronics properties of materials and optical devices, qualitative and quantitative analysis of materials and rock samples, thin film technology, DNA recombination technology, microbial fermentation engineering, protein purification, identification of biological enzyme activity, computational mathematics, and statistics.
3. International Master Program of STEM Education (IMPSE)
IMPSE much emphasis on theory and practice, including STEM content knowledge, STEM in education, research methodology, and etc...
4. International Master Program of Information Technology and Applications (IMPITA)
IMPITA research focuses include:
- Information technology courses: Overall Picture of the Applied Fields for AI and IOT including AI, IOT, Intelligent Robot, and Cloud Computing.
- Mobile application courses: Overall Picture of the Applied Fields for Mobile APP and VR/AR including Mobile APP, VR/AR, Big Data, and multi-media.
B. REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS
1. Request for profile documents
a. Two Complete Application Forms (DOC) (ODT) (PDF) for international students with a recent passport photo attached.
b. Nationality verification or passport copy.
c. Copy of the candidate's highest education diploma certified by the Taiwanese embassy (Chinese or English version of the certificate from the Taiwanese embassy).
d. Copy of the official transcript of the highest degree and certified by the Taiwanese embassy (Chinese or English version certified by the Taiwanese embassy).
e. Proof of finances (Financial statements issued within 3 months from a financial institution with a minimum balance of NT$4,000 or NT$100,000, or a copy of the scholarship award notice).
f. Copy of Study Plan (DOC) (ODT) (PDF) in English or Chinese
g. Chinese or English proficiency
h. 02 copies of letter of recommendation (DOC) (ODT) (PDF)
i. International Student Application Form (DOC) (ODT) (PDF)
j. Request additional documents from departments
k. Application Checklist (DOC) (ODT) (PDF)
2. Application deadline:
From now to June 30, 2021
- Registration confirmation: Before July 31, 2021
- Confirmation of admission: Early September 2021
C. SCHOLARSHIP
There are three levels of scholarships:
Level 1 NPTU Elite Scholarship covers
- Tuition fees and incidentals:
Master: NTD 6,000 per month (maximum for 2 years)
PhD: 10,000 NTD salary per month (maximum for 3 years)
- Dormitory fee
Level 2 NPTU Brilliance Scholarship covers
- Tuition fee, incidental fee and free dormitory fee
Level 3 NPTU Excellence Scholarship covers
Tuition and incidental fees or allowance NTD 6,000 per month or free dormitory
* For the Fall semester, applications received after January 15th may not be considered for all scholarship programs and will only be considered if funding is still available.
* For the Spring semester, applications received after July 15th may not be considered for all scholarship programs and will only be considered if funding is still available.
